The convention’s keynote speaker will be Rear Admiral Terry McKnight, USN (Ret) will address convention delegates on the challenges in command. In 2009 McKnight was assigned as the first commander of the international task force (Task Force 151) to fight maritime piracy in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Somalia. He later wrote the book Pirate Alley: Commanding Task Force 151 off Somalia about his experience.

In addition to capturing the modern pirates, McKnight was challenged to lead a disparate group of organizations. He will address the dynamics of working with a coalition of maritime forces that had never before operated together, while facing bureaucratic pressures from U.S. Federal Government.

The only national convention designed specifically for the interests of structural steel erectors and fabricators, the SEAA event also draws architects, crane and rigging providers, detailers, engineers, and general contractors from across the United States.
