Novant Health plans to break ground later this year on a $49 million second phase of Novant Health Clemmons Medical Centre in west Forsyth.

The project to add up to 50 hospital beds occurs two years after the 40,000 sq. ft. medical center opened with operating rooms, an emergency department anda n imaging suite.

David Park, a senior vice-president with Novant who oversees construction and facilities services, says the construction will also include the necessary infrastructure for an acute-care hospital, such as food services — along with as many as three new operating rooms, focusing on orthopedic care.

Novant has selected BBH Design of Raleigh as the architect but has not finalized the design or selected a contractor.
