Reckitt, a global leader in health, hygiene, and nutrition, is set to establish a $145 million production facility in Wilson County.
“North Carolina continues to attract the world’s leading life science companies committed to public health,” said Gov. Roy Cooper. “Our skilled workforce and robust training programs make communities like Wilson ideal for innovative companies like Reckitt.”
Reckitt is known for brands including Lysol, Biofreeze, and Airborne, has been a staple in consumer health for over two centuries.
“North Carolina’s prominence as a life science innovation hub makes it the ideal location for our U.S. regional manufacturing center,” said Kris Licht, CEO of Reckitt. “This investment will enhance our supply chain resilience while helping us fulfill our mission to create a healthier world.”
Reckitt’s project, managed through its subsidiary RB Health Manufacturing (US) LLC, will be supported by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) approved earlier today. Over the 12-year term of the grant, the project is projected to generate $1.9 billion for the state’s economy. The JDIG allows for potential reimbursements of up to $4.6 million, contingent on Reckitt meeting job creation and investment targets.
“Wilson is a vital center for North Carolina’s biotech and life sciences industry, and we’re proud Reckitt has chosen to invest here,” said N.C. Sen. Buck Newton. “Our workforce and commitment to training make it the perfect site for high-tech companies and well-paying jobs.”
The project involves partnerships with several organizations, including the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, and the Wilson Economic Development Council, among others.
