Harrington Village Holdings, LLC led by D Logan of Logan Homes and the Town of Leland, have broken ground on Harrington Village and Harrington Square, a first of its kind upscale urban town center retail and residential development in Leland.

Harrington Village, a 309-unit apartment community with 10 three-story buildings, and the adjoining 30,000 sq. ft. Harrington Square commercial project, are reported to be “the first major urban development for the town being built under its new FlexCode, or unified development ordinance, designed to encourage a walkable-style town center.”

The FlexCode was created to help the city develop a traditional, walkable downtown.

An announcement about the ground breaking quotes Shirley Logan, commercial broker with Coldwell Banker Sun Coast Partners as saying: “The goal of the retail center is to ignite economic growth on Village Rd. and provide an upscale urban center more in line with the trends of walkable towns today, creating connectivity and community.”

“We are wanting to give people more and better options on this side of the Cape Fear River Bridge. We are entertaining conversations with such business as a brewery, a boutique restaurant, a low-country breakfast restaurant, a furniture store, a shoe store and more service-focused offerings such as tax preparers, small medical offices and private fitness instruction. This town center will draw people from miles away because of its convenient location and easy access.”
