Construction has begun on the 125-room Aloft Coastline Hotel in downtown Wilmington,
within walking distance of the Wilmington Convention Center, with a grand opening
scheduled for mid-2020.

Clancy & Theys Construction Co. is building the seven-story structure for Poteat Hospitality.

The hotel will include a rooftop bar and incorporate the historic structures at the conference and event center at 501 Nutt St.

Once complete, the property will be part of Wilmington’s Convention District, bringing the areas total guest-room count nearly 900. The district has attracted $426.1 million in investments in the past five years, Meetings and Conventions reports.

The hotel will include 10,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 7,000-sq. ft.
ballroom, plus 3,000 square feet of additional meeting space in the adjacent 100-year-old Coastline Conference & Event Center, which will be renovated as part of the project.

Other amenities will include a full-service restaurant, a ground-level bar, a rooftop bar, an outdoor terrace, a fitness center and an outdoor pool. The rooftop will offer dramatic views of the Cape Fear Coast.
