Construction is complete on a traffic signal upgrade at the intersection of New Bern Avenue and Trawick Road in Raleigh. ahead of the New Bern Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project, which will start construction in Summer 2024.
The project was funded and constructed by the NC Department of Transportation.
Upgrades include a new high visibility crosswalk with pedestrian signals heads and push buttons, along with new ADA compliant curb ramps.
Crosswalks are designed to enhance pedestrian safety by providing a clearly marked and visible area for crossing, improving accessibility.
This existing signalized intersection was also upgraded with metal strain poles to increase the structural integrity and reliability of this intersection moving forward.
