Subcontractor/vendor recruitment events scheduled for Camp Lejeune, Ft. Bragg construction opportunities

The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) says it is co-hosting two subcontractor vendor/recruitment events for construction projects and programs at Camp Lejeune and Fort Bragg.

The events relate to opportunities with Up-Side Management Company and DeMaria Building Company and take place on Oct. 16 in Jacksonville and Oct. 18 in Fayetteville.

In detail, according to the NCMBC:

“Up-Side Management Company (U-SMC) and DeMaria Building Company (DeMaria) both Federal Prime Contractors were approved to participate in the All Small Mentor Protégé Program by the Small Business Administration (SBA) on 12 July 2017. After receiving SBA approval, U-SMC and DeMaria formed a legal joint venture U-SMC/DeMaria JV1, LLC on 24 July 2017 for the purpose of uniting core competencies to provide superior quality design-build and design-bid-build new and renovation construction services to pursue federal stand-a-lone and IDIQ construction contracts. The JV is certified as a Hub Zone Joint Venture and Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (CvE certified with the Department of Veteran Affairs) on www.sam.gov and is considered a Small Business under NAICS Code 236220. The joint venture partners’ company information consists of the following:

U-SMC is a minority owned, SBA certified HUB Zone, 8(a) / Small Disadvantaged Business and a VA CvE certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business. U-SMC’s corporate office is in Hubert, North Carolina, with SBA approved bona fide offices located in Jacksonville, Florida and Velpen, Indiana. In addition, U-SMC’s Florida office is an SBA certified Hub Zone location. U-SMC has completed over 150 projects valued at $64 million for multiple federal and DOD agencies located within the Midwest, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Caribbean regions. 70% of these 100 projects have been completed for NAVFAC, primarily NAVFAC SE military installations.

DeMaria is a large construction firm and has been providing construction services for over 49 years. Incorporated in 1969, DeMaria has grown from a general contracting company in Detroit with less than 10 employees to a firm maintaining a strong local presence in Michigan while expanding into different markets across the nation. DeMaria’s Government project experience dates back to 1972, and the firm has been awarded, either through joint venture agreements or individually, over $1 billion dollars of work for various Federal Government agencies. Clients include the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Transportation Administration, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, and the General Services Administration. With more than four decades of experience of working within the government sector, DeMaria understands the need to meet or exceed each executing agency budget, quality, and schedule goals.

DeMaria is also the recent Awardee for Solicitation No. N40085-19-R-9124, P9838 Ambulatory Care/Dental Center, Marine Corps Air Station, New River, NC. The project requires construction of a 44,000 SF Ambulatory Care/Dental Clinic to incorporate the Marine Centered Medical Home concept for Marine Active Duty personnel at MCAS New River. Supporting facilities include utilities, site improvements, facility special foundations, parking, antiterrorism force protection measures, demolition, and environmental protection measures. Existing building AS100 will be demolished at the conclusion of the project. The construction/contract duration will be 874 calendar days after Notice to proceed. The magnitude of this project is greater than $25 million.

The Jacksonville program takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Coastal Carolina Community college, James Melton Skills Bldg. – Room 104B/C, 444 Western Blvd.

The event two days later happens bat Fayetteville Technical Community College, General Classroom Bldg. – Room 108 2817 Fort Bragg Rd.
