Construction has started on a new 247,000-sq. ft. U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs multispecialty outpatient clinic in Jacksonville, North Carolina, a project aimed at expanding access to health-care services for veterans across Eastern North Carolina.
Meyer Najem announced the groundbreaking, saying the facility will bring a broad range of health-care services together under one roof.
“By uniting a wide range of healthcare services under one roof and supporting the VA’s Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model, this project will help improve access, enhance the patient experience, and strengthen the health and well being of veterans across the greater Jacksonville region,” the company said on social media following the groundbreaking. “Building healthcare facilities is about more than construction. It’s about creating spaces that support people, families, and communities for generations to come.”
The new clinic is scheduled to open in fall 2028 and will provide veterans in the greater Jacksonville region with greater access to specialized care closer to home.
The facility will support the VA’s Patient Aligned Care Team model, which brings health-care professionals together to coordinate care around individual patients. The project is intended to improve access to care and the patient experience while supporting the health and well-being of veterans and their families.
Meyer Najem is partnering with US Federal Properties Co. LLC on the project, with Hoefer Welker providing architectural collaboration.
The project is designed to create a long-term health-care resource for veterans in the region, consolidating services in a modern outpatient facility.
The groundbreaking marks the start of construction, with the new clinic expected to be completed and open to patients in fall 2028.
