A $1.3-billion renovation of Bank of America Stadium is moving forward, with new renderings showing a significantly transformed home for the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC. Tepper Sports & Entertainment plans to upgrade the entire stadium while keeping the Panthers and Charlotte FC playing at the facility throughout construction. The project was originally estimated at $800 million when renovation plans were announced in 2024. Charlotte City Council approved a $650-million contribution toward the renovation in June 2024. The funding comes from the city’s hospitality and tourism tax, which is designated for projects that generate tourism activity.

Construction work is already underway behind the scenes, with about 65 workers currently on site. That work is expected to continue through the end of the 2026 Panthers season and fan-facing renovations are scheduled to begin in 2027, when about 1,500 workers are expected to be on site each day.

New renderings show the stadium’s corners expanding outward, creating a more circular appearance while maintaining its park-like setting.“The City of Charlotte takes great pride in the future of Bank of America Stadium. It remains one of our city’s crown jewels as an important public asset supporting thousands of local jobs, strengthening our economy, and serving as a cornerstone of the Charlotte community,” said Mayor Rob Harrington. “This work is an investment in Charlotte’s future – preserving an iconic venue, enhancing the fan experience, and ensuring Bank of America Stadium continues to create unforgettable memories while giving visitors countless reasons to return to our city for years to come.”

The upper-level social patio will be expanded to include a skyline view and covered space. Premium areas, including suites, will also be upgraded.

Other planned improvements include:

  • New scoreboards replacing the current boards installed in 2013
  • Improved audio throughout the stadium
  • Expanded concourses
  • A team store more than twice the size of the current location
  • A new pavilion on the South Lawn designed as a stair-stepped amphitheatre for gameday activities
  • A redesigned exit route at the South Gate, directing fans toward Mint Street instead of Morehead Street
  • Lighting beneath the exterior of the 500-level to create a crown-like feature visible on the Charlotte skyline
  • Removal of the LED video board along Mint Street near the East Gate
