NCMBC names new business development services specialist

The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) announced that it appointed Darleen Stein as business development specialist to serve companies in North Carolina.

Stein will be responsible for identifying contract opportunities, source them to businesses across the state and provide one-on-one assistance to help businesses compete for, win and grow jobs through federal contracts, according to a statement.

Stein will serve as a member of the NCMBC’s business development team and will identify future and current federal prime and subcontracting opportunities, identify and notify companies of these opportunities and provide one-on-one assistance to help companies bid on and win contracts.

Stein will monitor all contract opportunities from US Coast Guard Elizabeth City and in Greater Tidewater Virginia area: Fleet Readiness Supply Center, Norfolk; Norfolk Naval Base; Portsmouth Naval Shipyard; Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth and the VA Medical Center, Hampton. Stein will also provide training and counseling services in federal contracting to businesses in the eight counties of eastern North Carolina.

Stein brings more than 30 years of federal and military contracting services experience. Prior to joining the NCMBC, she was a vice-president for a Fortune 500 company.

“The business development teams are the heart of the NCMBC,” NCMBC executive director Scott Dorney said.  “Darleen’s experiences in business development, marketing, proposal development and pricing strategy, quality control, purchasing, corporate and financing planning, program management and testing management support will provide invaluable assistance to North Carolina businesses in winning and successfully executing federal contracts.”
