The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) has announced the appointment of LaNell Grissom as business development specialist. Serving businesses statewide, Grissom will identify contract opportunities, source them to businesses across the state and provide one-on-one assistance to help businesses compete for, win and grow jobs through federal contracts.

The business development teams are the heart of the NCMBC,” said NCMBC executive director Scott Dorney. “LaNell’s experience as a former contracting official with the Department of the Army will provide invaluable assistance to North Carolina businesses in winning and successfully executing federal contracts.”

As a member of the NCMBC’s business development team, Grissom will identify future and current federal prime and subcontracting opportunities, identify and notify companies of these opportunities and provide one-on-one assistance to help companies bid on and win contracts. Specifically, she will monitor all contract opportunities from Mission and Installation Contracting Command Center – Fort Bragg; Department of Defense Education Activity construction at Fort Bragg; US Army Corps of Engineers South Atlantic Divisions and the Charleston, Savannah and Wilmington Districts.

Before joining NCMBC, Grissom was a government procurement counselor with the North Carolina Procurement Technical Assistance Center at Fayetteville State University.

Additionally, she had retired from the federal government, with 36 years of civilian service, including 27 years experience in purchasing and contracting with the Department of the Army.
