NC811 has put out a call for volunteers to ensure service cuts from uncoordinated digging at excavation sites near polling stations don’t disrupt the voting process.

“This has been a year with unprecedented attention placed on the election, the candidates and the process,” the call-before-you-dig service says in an announcement.

“North Carolina is considered a ‘swing state’: all the more reason why avoiding election disruption is important. We are asking all stakeholders to sign up as a volunteer and help us during election week by visiting excavation sites across North Carolina that are in close proximity to polling stations.”

The organization has prepared a YouTube video and flyer to encourage volunteers to register and visit sites, where they will meet with workers to explain how to prevent service disruptions because of excavations.
