The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) and Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) have announced the appointment of Sheryl Turner as business development specialist. Serving businesses statewide, Turner will identify contract opportunities, source them to businesses across the state and provide one-on-one assistance to help businesses compete for, win and grow jobs through federal contracts.
“The business development teams are the heart of the NCMBC,” said NCMBC executive director Scott Dorney. “Sheryl’s experience working with a woman-owned small-business (WOSB) federal contractor and knowledge with market intelligence; capture management; teaming arrangements/joint ventures; proposal development; contract negotiations; and contract phase-in/execution/phase-out will provide invaluable assistance to North Carolina businesses in winning and successfully executing federal contracts.”
As a member of the NCMBC’s business development team, Turner will identify future and current federal prime and subcontracting opportunities, identify and notify companies of these opportunities and provide one-on-one assistance to help companies bid on and win contracts. Specifically, she will monitor all contract opportunities from Womack Army Medical Center; US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC); Department of Defense Education Activity at Fort Bragg; Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), and other defense agencies. Turner is responsible for working with NC businesses to compete for federal contracts in medical, transportation and related industries.
Additionally, she will provide assistance to all businesses in Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, Robeson, Scotland, Richmond, Moore, and Montgomery counties desiring to do business with the federal government. In this capacity, Turner will help existing businesses to identify, bid on and compete for federal contracts.
Prior to joining NCMBC, Turner was an executive management consultant and vice-president – operations with WILL Technology, Inc., a Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) federal contractor headquartered in Huntsville, AL. Her primary areas of responsibility included business operations/infrastructure management, human resources management, and program management. She played an integral role on WTI’s executive business development team, and she has extensive experience in promoting strategic business development strategies in pursuit of federal opportunities. .
