NC A&T holds topping out ceremony on $90 million ERIC project

North Carolina A&T State University on Nov. 5 celebrated the topping out of the university’s new $90 million Engineering Research and Innovation Complex (ERIC).

The four-story building being constructed in Greensboro on the site of the former Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA

“We’re excited about this facility,” A&T Chancellor Harold Martin said. “It means enhanced opportunities for this university.”

The Greensboro News & Record reports that the building is about 40 percent complete and is scheduled to open in fall 2021. Proceeds from the Connect NC bond are paying the construction costs.

People cheered as a crane hoisted the beam into the air and craned their necks to see construction workers fasten the beam to the side of the building that overlooks neighboring Coltrane Hall.
