The Local Government Commission approved funding for a new police headquarters building, fire station, fire training center and expansion to the fleet maintenance buildings for Mooresville, reports Correctional News.

The commission granted Mooresville $46.5 million in limited obligation bonds to build a 50,000-sq.-ft. police headquarters building; 17,000-sq.-ft. fire station; 3,300-sq.-ft. expansion to the fleet maintenance building; and a 13,800-sq.-ft. fire training center.

Mooresville is a town of 38,000 located 25 miles north of Charlotte.

Construction is expected to begin in January on both the new police headquarters and new branch of the Mooresville Fire Department Station 6. Work on the $3.5 million fire training center is scheduled to begin in March.
