Improvements planned for Cabarrus County roads in 2025

A $3.2 million contract awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation this month will bring improvements to nearly nine miles of roads in Cabarrus County.

​Contractor NJR Group, Inc. of Albemarle will perform the improvements including milling, resurfacing, shoulder reconstruction, and rumble strip installation. Roads included in the contract are:

  • U.S. 601 between Cold Springs and Flowes Store roads
  • Flowes Store Road between U.S. 601 and Flowes Store Road East
  • Stanly McElrath Road between the Mecklenburg County line and Shiloh Church Road
  • ​Shiloh Church Road between Stanly McElrath and Placid roads, and between Kings Drive and Odell School Road

Work can start as soon as mid-April 2025 with completion scheduled for fall 2026.
