The short session of the NC General Assembly, which is expected to adjourn around July 1, is moving at a fast clip. Identical bills designed to solve problems concerning double payment, as well as bankruptcy issues for subcontractors, have been introduced in the NC Legislature: H 1052 is in House Judiciary Subcommittee B and was scheduled to be heard on June 6. S 864 is in Senate Judiciary I. The Carolinas AGC is leading efforts to try to reach a satisfactory solution to the issue that is acceptable to the construction industry.
