The U.S. Department of Transportation is awarding a $25 million grant to complete a series of highway improvement projects on the US-74 corridor in Cleveland, Columbus, and Robeson counties.
The award includes funding to complete a major bypass around Shelby and the conversion of four signalized intersections on US-74 between I-95 and I-140.
Last month, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) sent a letter to Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao in support of the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s application for the grant.
