D.H. Griffin from Greensboro has started demolishing the former Charlotte Observer building on S. Tyron St. to make way for a future mixed-use development by Charlotte-based real estate firm Lincoln Harris.
Mecklenburg County permit records indicate the project will cost $4.2 million, Charlotte Business Journal reports. Most of that, $3.5 million, will be for tearing down the Observer building, at 600 S. Tryon St.
The redevelopment plans have not yet been announced or revealed.
