Cousins Properties is seeking approval for a new office building in Charlotte’s South End, with plans to build a regional headquarters for financial services firm Dimensional Fund Advisors.
In their rezoning submission, the companies have filed their first public draft of plans for the building, designed by Duda Paine Architects (DPA).
According to the Charlotte Business Journal, the initial site plan calls for a building of up to 285,000 sq. ft,. including 25,000 sq. ft. of ground-floor retail. The plans also include a parking deck along Park Ave. with up to five levels of above-ground parking and up to two levels below grade. Vehicles would access the building from Park Ave..
Charlotte City Council must approve the rezoning request before construction can begin. A public hearing is scheduled for December. Jeff Brown, a lawyer representing Cousins and DFA, has said work could start by late next year at the earliest.
