Brunswick County and contractor Edifice Construction will mark the start of construction next week on a new Health and Human Services (HHS) and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) building.
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at the Brunswick County Government Center in Bolivia. The event is open to the public and no registration is required.
The new four-storey, 140,000-sq. ft. structure will consolidate and expand space for a range of county services, including Health Services, Social Services, Environmental Health, Public Housing, Emergency Management and Veterans Services.
The project is intended to provide modernized facilities for county departments while bringing multiple public-facing services together in a single building.
Edifice Construction is serving as the project contractor.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place near Building B, which houses Social Services, at 60 Government Center Drive and will commemorate the official start of construction on the new facility.
Construction of the building will provide additional capacity for county services as the community continues to grow.
