Triangle Tire is preparing to begin construction on a new plant in Edgecombe County.
The China-based company unveiled plans for the project in 2017, saying that it would bring approximately 800 jobs to the Kingsboro Megasite, which is approximately five miles east of Rocky Mount and approximately six miles west of Tarboro, Rocky Mount Telegram reports.
The company is investing $580 million to build the factory. The project has two phases. In the first phase, the plant will make car tires, while in phase two, it will produce commercial vehicle tires.
When operational, around 800 jobs will be created for the locals. Triangle Tire expects to complete both phases by 2023.
