A rezoning request by Zimmer Development for its tower in downtown Raleigh has been approved by the Raleigh City Council.

The building can now have 40 stories instead of 12, and up to 1,466 residential units and 1.7 million sq. ft. of space, reports the News & Observer.

Located at 506 Capital Blvd., the 1.5-acre parcel sits directly across from the planned third stage of Kane Realty’s Smoky Hollow development.

Further project details will be released soon by the developer.
