The U.S. Navy has awarded firm-fixed-price contracts worth potentially $550.5 million to two joint ventures to construct, repair and refurbish U.S. Marine Corps facilities in North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Florence, GovConWire has reported.
Archer Western Federal JV secured a potential $339.5 million contract as part of the Department of the Navy’s Hurricane Florence Recovery Package Seven to replace facilities at USMC Air Station New River, including classrooms at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training, the Department of Defense said on Aug. 31.
The award has a base value of $326.6 million. It includes four extension options and includes a range of construction and refurbishment work for various facilities including classroom buildings, administrative offices, maintenance hangars for CH-53K heavy-lift helicopters and related assets.
The DoD said in the notice that a joint venture between RQ Construction and WM Jordan received a potential $211 million contract to construct and modify facilities under the third Hurricane Florence recovery package at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.
The contract, which includes 12 extension options, has a $191.1 million base value and covers storage and training facilities such as the USMC Combat Service Support School.
The award covers work on logistics warehouses, battle simulation systems, marksmanship training spaces and other facilities for virtual exercises.
Naval Facilities Engineering Command received four bids for the first award and 12 for the second contract. NAVFAC will obligate the full base amounts of both awards in fiscal 2020 USMC military construction funds, the published report says.
Archer Western Federal is scheduled to perform work through February 2025, while RQ-WM Jordan JV will facilitate contract activities until May of the same year, GovCon Wire says.
