UNC Health Pardee has broken ground on a new medical office building on Spartanburg Highway as part of a broader effort to expand access to healthcare services in Henderson County.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held Jan. 8 for the facility, which is being developed in partnership with Henderson County and is one of four projects tied to Pardee’s strategic growth plan.

Vannoy Construction was proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Henderson County/UNC Health Pardee – Medical Office Building on Spartanburg Highway in Hendersonville,” Vannoy wrote on social media following the groundbreaking. “We look forward to working with clients Henderson County, North Carolina and UNC Health Pardee, architect LS3P ASSOCIATES LTD., engineer WGLA Engineering, and other project partners to deliver a facility that will serve patients for years to come.”The building will expand outpatient and primary care services and support future specialty care needs. Planned services include primary care through Pardee BlueMD, physical therapy, outpatient care and a Pardee Rx pharmacy with drive-thru access. Additional specialty services are planned for the site.

Construction is expected to be completed in early 2027, with the facility opening to patients shortly afterward.

“UNC Health Pardee and Henderson County have a strong history of working together to meet the healthcare needs of our community,” said James M. Kirby II, president and CEO of UNC Health Pardee. “As the region continues to grow, so do the demands on care and services across Henderson County.”

Henderson County is funding development and construction through a reimbursement resolution approved by the Board of Commissioners. UNC Health Pardee will cover the county’s borrowing costs through lease payments, and officials said the project will be completed at no cost to taxpayers.
