Barnhill Construction celebrated a major construction milestone with the topping out of Southeastern Community College’s new 22,000-sq. ft. Transportation STEM Lab.The facility will provide hands-on training for students preparing for careers in automotive systems and truck driving, addressing the growing demand for skilled workers in Columbus County.

Barnhill Construction said it is proud to be “#partofthestory” in delivering the project, which it noted will have a significant impact on the local workforce and community.The project has brought together a team of industry partners, including McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture, Stewart, Structural Steel of Carolina, and the full project team. Barnhill highlighted their “collective contributions and commitment to excellence” as key to the lab’s progress.

The Transportation STEM Lab is designed to equip students with the practical skills needed for high-demand jobs in the transportation sector, reinforcing Southeastern Community College’s role in workforce development for the region.
