Raleigh starts work on Brockton Dr. stormwater management, lake and dam preservation project

Brockton Dr. project Raleigh

Construction in Raleigh for the first phase of the $4.5 million Stormwater Management Division’s Brockton Drive Lake and Dam Preservation project has started.

The work includes draining the lake, replacing storm drainage and sanitary sewers, and re-grading the upper lake on Brockton Drive. Major construction, including the demolition of the upper lake, will begin in August.

“This project, which will be done in two phases, will address dam safety concerns at the Brockton Drive dam; reduce the frequency and severity of flooding in the area; and improve the water quality of the lake while remaining consistent with the City of Raleigh’s lake preservation policy,” the city says on its website.

The first phase of the project has been contracted to Carolina Civilworks, Inc. CDM Smith, Inc. also is participating in the project team, with the city’s Public Utilities Department.
