Raleigh has broken ground on Parkside Apartments, a new affordable housing community in Raleigh that will bring 144 income-restricted units to a site near Western Boulevard.

Being developed by Blue Ridge Atlantic Development, the affordable housing complex is planned for a 4.89-acre site at 1329 Kent Road, near the North Carolina State University campus. The development will consist of 144 units with 45% for households earning up to 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI), and 10% for Wake County permanent supportive housing voucher clients .The city purchased the land in November 2023 using funds from its affordable housing bond and invested approximately $6 million in the development. Wake County contributed an additional $5.7 million.

“This is an important investment in our community that will help provide stable housing near schools, jobs, transit, and services,” city officials said in a statement. “Parkside Apartments will help more families call Raleigh home.”

The development will feature a range of amenities, including a fitness center, playground, gazebo, outdoor grilling areas, business center, and a community events room.

Located near NC State University and downtown Raleigh, the project aims to create a vibrant and connected community with easy access to public transportation and employment hubs.
