Protagonist Beer is moving forward with construction of a 15,000 sq. ft. taproom and brewery in Charlotte, which will dwarf its original 1,700 sq. ft. NoDa location.
The brewery expects to open the location in October, deciding to continue with construction despite the economic downturn related to Covid-19, Charlotte Business Journal reports.
“The opening of the Lower South End brewery is timely, as people are looking for more space and safe opportunities to enjoy the brewery scene,” says co-founder Mike Salzarulo.
The brewery will have gathering space with a mezzanine, a customer-facing barrel-aging room, a full kitchen and three separate bars, as well as a 6,000 sq. ft. patio.
