John Skvarla, Secretary for the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources, spoke to attendees at yesterday’s Carolinas AGC Leadership Luncheon at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Durham. He reviewed his efforts in transforming the department from a bloated bureaucracy to a leaner and more efficient agency that will save taxpayers millions of dollars by cutting red tape, streamlining permitting and employing a more customer friendly attitude – all while protecting the environment and balancing the economic impacts.
Skvarla’s remarks were followed a presentation from Kristen Measimer, student president of the NC State University/CAGC Student Chapter, and Dr. Ed Jaselskis, an NCSU professor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering.
