North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory made important announcements for the Hispanic-owned small to medium sized construction businesses during the Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas‘ Construction Conference.

The governor announced that the state has a budget of $90 million dedicated to renovations and maintenance, which minority contractors and subcontractors can certainly benefit from. He assured that “the vast majority of these projects are in the final phases of design”.

McCrory personally invited conference attendees to an information meeting held June 18 at the Governor’s Mansion in Raleigh.

On another important note, McCrory mentioned that the program he started, the North Carolina Contractors College, is another resource “that will help small to medium sized construction businesses and their employees, helping them become digital, which will help them save money and make them attractive to prime contractors who are looking for minority subcontractors”.

He stated that the feedback on the first contractor’s college’s was “very positive”, with participants from all over the state, including some Hispanic contractors, and assures that “a second contractor’s college will take place in 2015”.
