The Metrolina Minority Contractors Association (MMCA) and the North Carolina Subcontractors Alliance (NCSA) are co-ordinating The Steel Boot Awards on June 7 in Charlotte.
The associations have invited nominations for awards recognizing general and subcontractors, large, medium and small.
Criteria for General Contractor of the Year (in categories above and below $50 million annual volume) include:
- Best business practices
- Supports diversity on the job
- Presents job information in a clear, concise manner
- Maintains a clean, safe jobsite
- Maintains good subcontractor relations
- Community involvement
- Promotes safety on the job
- Presents clear and complete pay app procedures
- Solicits value engineering from subcontractors and supplies
- Participates and supports professional construction organizations.
For Subcontractor of the Year, there will be three awards, based on revenues under $2 million, from $2 million to $7 million and above $7 million. Criteria include:
- Best business practices
- Strong diversity inclusion programSupports diversity on the job
- Sends submittals in a timely manner
- Arrives with fully equipped crew ready to work
- Displays a “can do” attitude when the unexpected roadblocks arise
- Pays second tier subcontractors and material suppliers on time
- Punches out jobs in a timely manner
- Participates and supports professional construction organization
Nominations are due by 5 p.m. on May 17 by completing and sending the nomination form (you can download it here) to MMCA. The nomination documentation also includes information about sponsorship opportunities for the awards event.
