Luck Companies, a crushed stone aggregates and environmental performance products supplier has released plans to expand its quarry operations across six counties in South Carolina. The $450 million plan includes sites in Chester, Edgefield, Saluda, Spartanburg, Fairfield, and Kershaw counties.

Founded in 1923 and headquartered in Virginia, Luck Companies is known for its three business units: Luck Stone, Luck Ecosystems, and Luck Real Estate Ventures. The company partners with customers in industries ranging from construction to civil engineering and environmental services.

The expansion will involve both new quarry sites and the expansion of existing operations:

  • Chester County: A $93 million investment will develop a new quarry site and create 25 new jobs. The site will also include land for agricultural education and economic development opportunities.
  • Edgefield County: Luck Companies will invest $70 million in the development of a 434-acre quarry over the next 20 years, generating 10 new jobs. The site is expected to support growth along the Interstate 20 corridor.
  • Saluda County: A $40 million investment will be made in a 330-acre quarry over the next decade, adding 10 new jobs. This site is also designed to support development in the I-20 corridor.
  • Spartanburg County: In Enoree, a $132 million investment will be made in a quarry site, alongside opportunities for commercial development. The investment will create 25 new jobs.
  • Fairfield County: Luck Companies will invest $90 million in its quarry site near Ridgeway to support the growing Interstate 77 corridor. The expansion will create new jobs and space for future economic development.
  • Kershaw County: An additional $25 million will be invested to build a permanent plant at this location. This site, which has been in operation since 2018, produces materials used in road construction, site development, and coastal protection.

“We are excited about the opportunities that Luck Companies is bringing to our community,” said Chester County Administrator Brian Hester. “Their commitment to agriculture, education, and economic development alongside the quarry makes this a win-win for Chester County.”
