Hotel developers break ground on new $3.92 million building near Charlotte Douglas International Airport

Marriott International Inc. and Charlotte-based Shreeji Hotel Group have partnered to break ground this week on a 126-room hotel near Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

According to the Mecklenburg County building permit, the project has a building construction value of $3.92 million. J.M. Cope Inc. based in Rock Hill, SC is listed as the general contractor.

“That permit is only for the physical structure and not everything that goes inside,” said partner Vivek Patel. “Development cost is about five times that.”

The hotel at 2223 Cascade Pointe Blvd. will also serve the 1.7 million sq. ft. office park across the street built by Childress Klein. The five-story hotel sits on a 5.7-acre site that will include a second soon-to-be announced luxury brand hotel.

Subtrades on the building permit include: ElectricalBernard Irby Inc.; and mechanical and plumbingSteeles Heating and A/C Inc.
