The Moore County Board of Commissioners has approved a $5.3 million contract with Harrod and Associates Constructors to build a new county recreation center at Hillcrest Park in Carthage.
Work is expected to begin on the recreation center by the end of the summer. The 22,000-sq.-ft. facility will include two gymnasiums with basketball courts, a conference room, and a concession area, reports The Pilot.
The project is part of an overall upgrade of Hillcrest Park at the junction of N.C. 22 and U.S. 15-501 in Carthage.
Construction is estimated to take about 18 months to complete.
