Construction is officially underway at the Summit at Sawyer development. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday, May 9th with representatives from the City, Wake County, project owner and developers, and community stakeholders to celebrate this important project.

The development will contribute 154 rental units affordable to households earning at or below 60 per cent of the Area Median Income, including 16 units for mobility-impaired residents. Project amenities include:

  • An on-site management office
  • Computer room
  • Covered picnic area with grills
  • Outside seating areas
  • Gazebo
  • Playground with Tot Lot
  • Additional lighting and other safety features

The project owner, The Summit at Sawyer LLC, expects units to be available for families to move in by October 2024. This development was made possible through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, land sold by the City of Raleigh for just one dollar, $3 million in gap financing from the City, and over $26 million in federal loans and equity.
