The City of Greensboro is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the Windsor Chavis Nocho Community Complex on Nov. 23 at 11 a.m.
The site is at 1601 E. Gate City Blvd. and information about upcoming construction will be available at the event.
Designed by Vines Architecture, the new Windsor Chavis Nocho Community Complex is a unique project that will combine all the features of a public library, recreation center, and park into a 65,000-sq. ft. building with diverse, open and enclosed rooms for events, meetings, and programs.
This project received funding from the City of Greensboro, Guilford County, Cone Health, Public Art Endowment, and Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership.
Nocho Park renovation will include replacing existing restrooms and upgrading a multi-purpose field to regulation size, replacing and relocating playground equipment with an innovative nature play area, adding a full-size covered basketball pavilion, amphitheater, wide pathways, relaxation area including hammock poles, additional parking, sustainable landscaping, and stormwater control devices.
The site will also feature multiple community gathering areas with Bosque seating, picnic tables, bench seating, a shade structure, and lighting throughout.
