Construction of the new MUSC Health Indian Land Medical Center reached a major milestone as project partners gathered to celebrate the topping out of the future hospital campus.
The ceremony marked the placement of the building’s final structural steel beam, a traditional construction milestone signifying that the structure has reached its full height.
Located on an 84-acre site at 9280 Charlotte Highway, the new healthcare campus will significantly expand access to medical services for residents of Lancaster County and the surrounding region. The first phase of development encompasses 28 acres and includes a three-story, 62,000-square-foot medical office building and a 50-bed hospital.
“South Carolina should take care of South Carolinians,” Dr. Cole said at the event, underscoring the vision behind the new medical center. When completed, the campus will bring critical healthcare services closer to home for thousands of residents, reducing travel times for patients seeking specialized and emergency care.
The Keith Corporation, the project’s developer, highlighted the collaborative effort behind the milestone, recognizing project partners LS3P Associates, HDR, Barton Malow, M. B. Kahn, and McFarland Construction U.S.
The Indian Land Medical Center is designed to meet the healthcare needs of one of South Carolina’s fastest-growing regions. Once completed, the campus will provide inpatient and outpatient services while creating additional healthcare capacity for the rapidly expanding Lancaster County community.
