Excellence in Construction: ABC Carolinas recognizes achievements at annual awards event

The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Carolinas chapter recognized 2015 Excellence in Construction winners at a gala evening in Charlotte Nov. 19.

More than 600 guests attended the event, which featured a supplier showcase.

The 2015 winners are:

General Contractor Project of the Year
Rodgers Builders, Inc. CHS Union, Women and Children’s Center, CE and Helipad

Specialty Contractor Project of the Year
Starr Electric Company, Inc. Lenovo Corporate Interiors and Data Center

Green Award
The Carolinas face many environmental issues that directly involve the construction industry. The Carolinas Green Award honors projects that incorporate various sustainable practices to help preserve our region and improve our quality of life.

Free Enterprise Award
The Free Enterprise Award is given to the general contractor with the largest number of ABC member subcontractors, suppliers, and associate members working directly on the project. The winner is selected from Eagle Award recipients.

Carolinas Design-Build Award
To highlight construction efforts that exhibit best practices of the design-build delivery method and how collaborative relationships between project stakeholders advance the practice and profession of the construction industry, The Carolinas Design-Build Award is designed to honor projects that excel in the use of the design-build method.

Carolinas Best in BIM Award
More now than ever, contractors are harnessing the power of Building Information Technology (BIM) to further excellence in every stage of construction. In efforts to highlight exemplary BIM case studies, The Carolinas Best in BIM Award is designed to honor projects that excel in the use of building information technology.
Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC, WakeMed North Women’s Hospital Expansion

In addition to winning an Eagle Award, Brasfield & Gorrie and the WakeMed North Women’s Hospital were recognized for the Free Enterprise Award and the Carolinas Best in BIM Award.

“Both of these projects reflect the outstanding contributions of our project teams, subcontractors, clients and business partners, who are integral to our success,” said Brasfield & Gorrie regional vice-president and division manager Scott Duckworth.
