Indianapolis-based Duke Realty and UNC REX Healthcare are building a 45,000 sq. ft. expansion of a medical office building  on Avent Ferry Rd. in Raleigh.

The project’s architect is the Raleigh office of BSA LifeStructures and the general contractor is Brasfield & Gorrie, headquartered in Birmingham, AL.

The three-story expansion on the UNC REX Healthcare of Holly Springs campus will be attached to the existing building with a three-story glass atrium.

Duke Realty will develop, finance, own and manage the new space, which will be 100 percent leased by UNC REX. The project is expected to be completed in December 2017. UNC REX also plans to build a new 50-bed community hospital on the Holly Springs campus beginning next year.
