The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has awarded a $20.8 million project to expand Northcross Drive in Cornelius and Huntersville, improving connectivity between the communities in north Mecklenburg County.
The contractor, Sealand Contractors Corp., will build the roadway section for 1.75 miles to extend Northcross Drive between N.C. 73 and Westmoreland Road and a new roundabout at Westmoreland Road/Eagleridge Way Lane in Cornelius.
Construction is expected to start this fall, with roadway completion scheduled for fall 2026. Landscaping and vegetation establishment can continue through spring 2027.
