Charlotte-based developer Childress Klein has filed new permits in anticipation of a new Duke Energy building.
The developer filed permits with the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County to begin site work, reports Fox 46 Charlotte.
The 39-story office tower will be built on a parking lot in the 500 block of South Tryon St. in between the Harvey B. Gantt Center and St. Peter Catholic Church.
Construction is set to begin at the end of April. Approximately 1,000 workers will be involved in the project, which is expected to be completed in 2022.
Duke Energy’s corporate headquarters will remain at the current Duke Energy Center on Tryon St.
