Construction has officially started on The Preserve at Gresham Lake, a new community that will offer 156 affordable homes for residents in the area. The development is designed to support families earning up to 70% of the median income, with some units specifically priced for families earning as little as 20% of the area’s median income.Landon Cox, a representative from LDG Development, the company behind the project, highlighted the challenges of building affordable housing but expressed confidence in the community’s ability to overcome them. “Housing is hard, but problems are surmountable with the right people. And the right people are here in Raleigh,” said Cox.

The project aims to address the growing need for affordable housing in the region, providing a safe and stable living environment for families who may otherwise struggle to afford rent. In addition to well-priced units, the community will offer a range of amenities, including a pool, playground, fitness center, and a community room.

The first families are expected to move into The Preserve at Gresham Lake by the summer of 2026, marking an important step toward providing more affordable housing options in the area.
