Charlotte City Council has approved a rezoning petition by Charlotte developer Levine Properties and Akridge, based in Washington D.C., to redevelop an 8.5 acre Montford Park site.

The developers have proposed to renovate an existing, 147,000-sq. ft. office building at 4701 Hedgemore Dr. They also plan to develop the area with as many as 250 apartments, a parking garage, and an additional 180,000 sq. ft. of office space. Council cleared the rezoning petition, originally submitted last year, at its March 15 meeting.

“This is an exciting mixed-use project that will transform the Park Road submarket by bringing a little bit of everything to the neighborhood,” Levine Properties president Daniel Levine was quoted as saying by WSOC-TV.
