Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) will host a construction trade and apprenticeship career fair on Mar. 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the NA Building on the North Campus in Castle Hayne.

According to a press release from CFCC, the event will allow attendees to meet hiring managers, learn about job and internship opportunities and explore CFCC’s construction trade programs.

More than 40 local trade companies are expected to attend, including:

  • Bateman Civil Survey Company
  • Brady Services
  • McKim & Creed
  • North Carolina Ports Authority
  • State Utility Contractors
  • Thomas Construction

Representatives from CFCC’s construction trade programs and Career Resource Center will also be available.

The college recently expanded skilled trades programming, with a new Beginning Carpentry and Woodworking course designed to prepare students for careers in construction.

The course will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. from April 1 to July 24, 2025, providing hands-on training in fundamental carpentry skills. With residential and commercial construction booming in the Cape Fear region, participants will learn basic safety procedures, tool identification and usage, construction mathematics, framing techniques for walls, roofs, doors, and windows and foundation layout and flooring system construction

CFCC says students will also work on real-world construction projects during the training.
