Contractor Beverley-Grant Inc. is working on plans for a proposed continuing care retirement community in Mills River in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The Legacy at Mills River community scheduled to open in 2021 proposes giving its residents “the option to not only live in their own home, but to own it in turn creating “next generation retirement living,” a statement says:

The development will include:

  • 210 customized independent living homes
  • Continuum of care with assisted living and nursing options
  • A physician-staffed health and wellness center
  • LEED standards in construction and maintenance
  • Walking trails and fishing lake

“With an American Arts & Crafts style of architecture, residents can customize their homes to their liking—choosing every finish and fixture,” a news release says.

“Simply put, Legacy is a step above other retirement communities. It will be an exceptional place to live and our ownership concept will allow our residents to create the life they want while building equity,” says Retirement Living Associates, Inc.’s David Ammons. “They will become invested members of a community that will not only benefit them but their families as well. We are proud of what we can provide for our future residents and it’s a model we hope will soon transform the industry, nationwide.”
