ABC of the Carolinas honors Excellence in Construction award winners

The Associated Builders & Contractors of the Carolinas recognized “the best of the best” general contractors and specialty contractors at the 2012 Excellence in Construction Award Banquet held November 15 at Founders Hall in Uptown Charlotte.

Thirty-one EIC Eagle Award recipients were recognized along with Merit, Green and Project of the Year Awards. Two outstanding Projects of the Year were selected from eight Excellence in Construction Eagle Award winners. The 2012 GC Project of the Year award went to Rodgers for  Carolinas HealthCare System’s Levine Cancer Institute.  The Specialty Project of the Year was awarded to Starr Electric Company for the Wake Forest Biotechnology Place.project.The Carolina Green Award was presented to Balfour Beatty Construction for outstanding sustainable construction and design practices on the Duke Energy Headquarters interior. General contractor Turner Construction Company won the Free Enterprise Award for the largest number of ABC member subcontractors, suppliers and associate members working on the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino & Hotel renovation and expansion.
