ABC Carolinas: Choate Construction and Adams Electric win Project of the Year awards

The Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas (ABC) has announced the recipients of the the Excellence In Construction (EIC) Awards.  The Awards were presented at the 13th annual EIC banquet at the Hilton Hotel in Charlotte on Nov. 20.

The pinnacle of the Excellence in Construction Awards is the Project of the Year Award, ABC Carolinas says. To earn this award, contractors must demonstrate a superior level of performance, excellence in meeting or exceeding project quality requirements, design specifications, safety procedures, project team collaboration, overcoming unique obstacles and meeting the project schedule, ABC Carolinas said in a news release.

Choate Construction (Charleston, SC) was honored with the General Contractor Project of the Year for the Clemson University SCE&G Energy Center project located in Charleston, SC.

Adams Electric (Greensboro, NC) was honored with the Specialty Contractor Project of the Year award for the Bank of America Stadium Renovations project located in Charlotte, NC.

“The EIC Awards showcases the Best of the Best construction projects in the Carolinas,” said Doug Carlson, ABC president and CEO. “These projects exemplify the expertise of our skilled craftsmen and women, building some amazing Churches, Schools, Hospitals and Commercial Buildings.”

ABC honored over 70 projects with 29 Eagle Awards, 27 Merit Awards and Honorable Mention awards. (Click Here for a Full List of Award Winners)

 Balfour Beatty received the Carolinas Green Award for the MetLife Corporate Retail Headquarters for an environmentally friendly building.  Rodgers was recognized with the Free Enterprise Award for the Duke Endowment New Headquarters project for the highest use of Merit Shop ABC members on a particular project.
