Plans are advancing for the construction of a new Bandwidth headquarters in Raleigh with more details and renderings of the project unveiled on Oct. 20 as well as news that a site plan application has been submitted to the City of Raleigh.

Gensler Architects is designing the project, with groundbreaking planned for 2021 and completion sometime in early 2023.

The campus at 2201 Edwards Mill Rd. will include two five-story buildings covering 450,000 sq. ft.  in its first phase, WRAL-TV reported. A second 350,000-sq. ft. phase is anticipated.

CBC Real Estate, a division of Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc., the corporate parent of WRAL-TV, WRAL.com and WRAL TechWire, is developing the site along with East West Partners, the broadcaster says.

Bandwidth also plans a Montessori school, an athletic field, an amphitheater, and other initiatives, the broadcaster says in TechWire.

“Bandwidth has been home-grown in the Triangle for nearly 20 years,” said Bandwidth CEO David Morken. “We are excited to put our roots down further in the rich soil of this community, with the help of two world-class developers in Michael [Goodmon, vice president of real estate for CBC] and Lee [Perry, senior managing partner, East West Partners], the State of North Carolina, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, Wake County and the city of Raleigh.”

“We are blessed to have brilliant local partners on our design and development teams that have already amazed us with what is possible on this site. We hope to lift up our neighbors and Bandmates as we move further into the design and development of our new Global Headquarters here in Raleigh,” Morken was quoted as saying.

“Working with a world-class company of innovators like Bandwidth challenged us to think through all of the important work we’ve done for hundreds of tenants over the years at our different properties to develop a site that would allow this quickly growing company the perfect setting for their important work. We’re proud of the outcome and thankful for the opportunity to work with such a fantastic team,” Goodmon said.
