Nationally, construction employment increased in 27 states, held flat in three and declined in 20 states and Washington, D.C., the AGC report said. “The strongest recoveries in construction employment have occurred in states with oil and gas activity, while the steepest construction job losses have occurred in Sunbelt states,” said Ken Simonson, the association’s chief economist. North Carolina had added 500 construction positions between March and April.
